Design a Picture

A new competition is being launched from Monday 24th November.
The title is 'Why I Like Reading.'

Competition Details
  • Children need to draw or paint a picture on an A4 sheet of paper. Try to make it as colourful and eye-catching as possible showing a reason why you like to read. Let your imagination run wild!!
  •  The competition is open to both infant and junior age children.
  •  All entries need to be handed to your teacher.
  •  Closing date is Monday 15th December.
  •  Remember to write your name, age and class on the back.
What can you win?
  • All entrants will receive a certificate for their picture.
  • Pictures will be entered for a national competition.
  • If your picture is chosen as the winner of the national competition, the school will receive an amazing giant mosaic all made from LEGO bricks. That would be fantastic.

War Story Reading Challenge is Over

Thank you to all the children who have taken part in the war story challenge, it is now over. I hope that you have taken the opportunity to read something different and enjoyed the stories. Your thoughts about the stories were written on poppies and displayed in the Library they looked fantastic. All children who completed the challenge, by reading three war stories, have received their 'victory medals' in assembly. Look out for a new competition coming soon.

War Story Reading Challenge

Well done to the first group of children who have completed reading the war story challenge. The victory medals were presented in celebration assembly on Friday morning.

 There are many children who have started the challenge and have read at least one war story hopefully they will complete it. They have written their thoughts about the stories on a poppy. A display has been arranged in the Library please take a look if you have a spare moment.

Michael Morpurgo

Our author of the term is Michael Morpurgo. He has written numerous books for children. Probably his most well known book is Warhorse which has been made into a film as well as a west end show. He writes beautiful stories about a passion of his, animals.

Top Facts about Michael
  1. He was born in St Albans in 1943.
  2. He is married and has three children.
  3. He was a primary school teacher.
  4. His favourite authors are Robert Louis Stevenson, Rudyard Kipling and Ted Hughes.
  5. Private Peacful was his 100th book he had written. His first was It Never Rained.
  6. With his wife he established Farms for City Children which give children from inner cities the chance to visit and work on a farm.
