Summer Holidays

Looking for something to do in the long summer holidays?
Here are a couple of suggestions:

The Summer Reading Challenge

The summer reading challlenge is being run again this by staff at all of Havering public libraries. This year's theme is Roald Dahl's BFG (the big friendly giant). Once again the challenge is to read six library books during the school holidays. The only difference being that this year you will need to take a book that you have read with you. Cards will be given for every book read - some of them are really smelly! They can be stored in a special Big Friendly Read collectors folder which you will be given. If you manage to complete the challenge you will be awarded a medal and certificate in school during the autumn term.
The official launch date is 16th July however children can sign up to take part at any time after that date.
Please note that Hilldene Library will be closed from 16th July until 8th August when it will re open in a brand new building within Hilldene shopping area.
