As usual book tokens will be given to all children, they can swap them for any of the books printed for world book day which are avaialable from bookshops and selected supermarkets. Alternatively they can be used to get a disount off the price of any other children's book. How will you use your token?

There are many Roald Dahl books for you to borrow from the school library, maybe consider reading one this week.

World Book Day 2018

It's an exciting week this week in school, we are visiting Narnia and we even have the snow to make it feel really authentic. The themed week is being held to coincide with World Book Day, which is on Thursday 1st March. This is a special day when authors, adults and children celebrate books and the love of reading. As usual there are 10 books written and published by well known authors which cost £1 each. They are only available from bookshops and selected supermarkets. You can exchange your World Book Day token for one of these books, which effectively means that it is free.
For more information, inspiration, games and videos go to www.worldbookday.com.

The book fayre will be arriving in school next week on Thursday 8th March. It will be open until 4pm on Thursday 8th, Friday 9th and Monday 12th March. It will be located in the junior hall. If you decide not to use your World Book Day token at the shops you can use it to get a £1 discount off the price of a book. Come and have a look at the selection on offer.

Everything Changes When We Read.

We had a fantastic response for world book day 2017 last week. As predicted there were many Mad Hatters, Alice's, Queen of Hearts and Cheshire Cats. The design a bookmark competition was very well supported and all winners chose something from the book fayre. Well done and a big thank you to everyone who entered.

World Book Day 2017

It's World Book Day on Thursday 2nd March and it is celebrating it's 20th Birthday. It is an opportunity to appreciate books and the enjoyment of reading in a fun and focussed way. Our theme for the day, in fact the week, is Alice in Wonderland the fantastic book written by Lewis Carroll. Children and staff are invited to dress up as one of the characters from the story. Hopefully there will be many Alices, cheshire cats, white rabbits and Mad Hatters.

A Scholastic Book Fayre will be held in the Junior Hall after school on Thursday 2nd, Friday 3rd and Monday 6th of March. Opening times will be 3.10-3.45. This will give everyone a chance to browse through the book selection and hopefully buy one. Every child will be given a £1 voucher which will enable them to have a £1 discount from any book priced at £2.99 or more.

I am also running  a design a bookmark competition for all year groups. Teachers have been given blank bookmarks this morning for everyone to colour, draw or desgin something fantastic. The closing date is Thursday 2nd March. The competition will be judged Friday morning and the winners will be collected to choose their prize from the book fayre.

There  are also 10 specially written and printed books just for World Book Day. These are available form bookshops and some supermakets at just £1. If you take your voucher along with and you choose one of these books it will be free. Definitely worth having a look at.

However you are celebrating World Book Day have fun.
