He was born on 20th August 1971. He changed his surname to Walliams when he became an actor.
The public know him for being a TV personality, actor, comedian and more recently an author. He is a judge on Britain’s Got Talent and is famous for his humour on the show. He has written and starred in two TV series where he played a chemistry teacher.
David is a great supporter of Comic Relief and has been made an honorary trustee of the charity. One of his most famous fund raising events was to swim the River Thames which is 140 miles long!! This event alone raised over 2 million pounds.
He began writing children’s books in 2008 his first novel was called The Boy in the Dress. Since then he has written many more books for children aged nine and over as wll as picture books for younger readers. His books have sold over 4 million copies worldwide with five of them being made into films. His most successful book, Gangsta Granny, is currently being adapted for theatre.
